It’s a dirty job but

I’ve always thought it would be cool to coach a national soccer team. Yeah, it would take a lot of work, and success to find yourself in that position. But to make some good money traveling around to games to see the countries top players. Always have a great seat made available to you….

Calm down US Soccer fans

I don’t know if it’s just soccer fans or Americans in general these days but, well, these knee jerk hysterics depending on the latest result has got to end. Sorry but, yeah losing at the Azteca was a disappointment. But ya know what? We’ve never won there. Not once.

Happy Ending in TV for US at Azteca debate

Don’t you love a happy ending?  Here we were (well, I was) all worked up about potentially not being able to watch the US play their World Cup Qualifier at the Azteca.   I’d even called DirecTV to see what it would cost to get one (or both) of the channels just for the day–actually, I still haven’t heard back yet on my last email.  Oh well.

The PA played that tune by the 80’s Bay Area Wimp Rockers at Half-time of the match Saturday night in San Jose, but it could have been more for the visitors than the home side. The Journey tune seemed to spur on the Galaxy more than the Quakes. Ya gotta love it.
Ok, I know the Smurfans will come back with comments similar to Dominic Kinnear’s

“One team wanted to play tonight, and the other team wanted to get out of here with a result,” Kinnear said Saturday night at Spartan Stadium …

In today’s LA Times, Grahame Jones fills space with the differences between LA Galaxy and Real Madrid.
Ok, I can’t argue here…
In (the last two weeks), the Galaxy has played two games, won neither, made no coaching changes, signed no new players, shown little sign of doing either and pretty much puttered along in a business-as-usual mode.
True, most Galaxy fans would love to see a coaching change. But as the transfer window is closed, there’s isn’t much opportunity to bring in new players right…especially when you have a salary cap to …

Nick Green at the Daily Breeze seems to be slightly influenced by Star Wars in an article today. To be honest, I’m glad he did. The situation at the HDC right now isn’t that fun to read about for Galaxy fans. LA hasn’t won a game on the road this season. The players Sampson brought in haven’t done a thing…expect possibly Landon Donovan who was a gift. Things aren’t looking great for the team and he even suggests that Sampson (and Hamilton) should be getting their resumes ready.

That heavy breathing …

As a Galaxy fan, I can’t tell you how much watching the LA-DC match on Saturday pissed me off. If Doug Hamilton can’t see how much Peter Nowak outcoached Steve Sampson, then he has no business having any say who should be leading any MLS team.
But I want to stay positive today so I’m going to talk about Herculez Gomez. SoCal Soccer News had a good interview with him the other day. Now, I’m going to go on record–probably a little late–and claim that I thought the …

It seems Sampson requested that Donovan be released from the US squad for the Galaxy’s “Big Game” next week against Real Madrid. However, even though the US play on Saturday and won’t play again until Thursday, Bruce Arena rejected the idea.
US Team press officer Michael Kammarman explained…

“[The Gold Cup] is our regional championship. It makes no sense to have Landon flying back and forth across the country.”

Um, you could have fooled me. Most people in the US don’t even know it’s going on. On top of that, there’s a …

It’s been on the cards for at least a couple of seasons. But the Crew finally decided it was time to try someone new at the helm.
Robert Warzycha will take charge in Columbus while they find a full-time replacement.
Being the pessimist I am, I’m guessing he’ll be replacing Steve Sampson in LA next.

I came across a quote from Galaxy great Mauricio Cienfeugos today on the Matchnight.com Network which I think sums up my problem with the Galaxy right now.
They (The Galaxy) have good players, but they need to play like a team. Real Madrid have the best players but don’t play like a team.
In my opinion, this has been the problem with the Galaxy since ‘96 and the reason why there are so few MLS Cups won by the organization. Just look at the deal which brought Luis Hernandez to the Rose …
