It’s kicking off.

I realize I haven’t posted in a while but to be honest, I probably would have just ranted about something or other so I decided to keep myself limited to 140 characters.
However, do to some serendipitous events, possibly due to some planetary alignment or the SuperMoon, I found myself flipping through all the games last night and felt the urge to write something.
First, besides the late games (Goats cramming those attending into parts of the stadium to make it look fuller than it was, and Smurph fans scared of a …

MLS: Fair & Balanced?

When the season started, there was a lot of talk about how this season would provide the first ‘balanced’ schedule and the closest we’ll get to a true Supporters Shield winner. Champions of the ‘we need to be like Europe’ philosophy jumped all over this opportunity.

We suck, so here’s your money back

I don’t know that this is the right precedent to set, but what do I know? To be honest, I’ve only seen the highlights and hope to watch the entire match tonight. However, giving the fans a credit on their account (to be applied to their season ticket renewal I assume) isn’t going to help the team much….but it may be an incentive for ticket buyers to renew. Ok, it is an incentive for ticket buyers to renew.

What goes up…

Ordinarily I won’t go near the topic of some type of promotion/relegation system in MLS. To be honest, I don’t think it’s needed. What will it really bring?

Sigi, Sigi, Sigi…oi! oi! oi!

Boy, talk about sore losers. For the record, I’ve always been a Sigi Schmid fan. Even when fans in LA wanted him gone because the style he brought to the HDC was ‘boring’, I’d remind those complaints that he does win….silverware. Yet, for whatever reason—reasons we’ll probably never really know—Sigi was let go while LA were at the top and replaced by the worst MLS coach to be able to say he coached a team to the title.

I saw this match report and had to crack up. As bad as things are in Newcastle right now, the Geordies have got to be loving this result.
I guess Sunderland are on a tour of North America playing USL teams. Seattle and Portland are also on the schedule.

I love this competition. I just wish there was a way of effectively doing more with it. but I do enjoy seeing the USL teams match up against the Big Boys. Maybe one day it’ll reach more people and ticket sales won’t be such a huge disappointment. I could go on a major rant on how things could be done better, but I’m trying to stay positive so I’ll just look on where we are in this years competition.
We are currently in the 3rd Round of this years competition.
