BeckhamGate

I wasn’t always an LA Galaxy fans, but I became one long before Beckham arrived and I’ll be one long after he’s gone.

Remember, it’s a Team Sport

If there was ever proof needed that of any sport, soccer is the one in which a single player can’t make a huge difference.  For 90 minutes (ok, 70 and the post game) we heard Bratos and co talk about David Beckham, his impact, his career and Grant Wahl’s book.

An Open Letter to David Beckham

Mr. Spice,
I don’t know if your well paid advisers have told you this or not but, we aren’t buying your bull shit this time around.  You say one thing, yet your actions point to something very different.  Fool me once….actions not words…and several other cliches come to mind.
Here’s the thing, you sell tickets and shirts.  Any club in the world would love the money you bring in from that.  However, as we discovered last season, you are nothing without a great cast around you.  You became frustrated with the lack …

A good sized baby step

I’m sure US Soccer fans are going to be dissecting the Confederations Cup run for a long time.  Well, I hope that’s what happens.  There’s a million talking points to examine.

US Soccer fans are never happy

Seriously, you’d have thought we had just lost at home to Granada (no offense to the Grenadians) or something, anything, other than stuffing Trinidad and Tobago 3-0. Hey, at least we aren’t Mexico.

10 preseason MLS questions…..

….without mentioning you know who–wow, sounds like something out of a Harry Potter.  Seriously, there’s more to MLS that some crybaby Brit.

What’s with this Beckham guy anyway?

If you haven’t been following the tug-of-war between Milan and LA for the Spiced One, then you probably won’t be reading this.  If you have been following it, like me, you are probably sick of the whole thing.  Ok, that’s an assumption but I’m pretty confident it’s accurate.
This whole thing is silly.  Milan and Beckham have been trying to bully LA into selling him for next to nothing.  LA, and rightly so, have called out Milan (though not Spice Guy) for their BS and labeled the offer of US$3million ridiculous.  …

Probably the most important thing about creating and maintaining a blog is to keep it current with fresh information. After all, why go through the hassle of putting something together if you aren’t going to do anything with yet. Yeah, I’ll buy the “cuz the creating is the fun bit” argument but, well, for a blog to be anything, it needs regular updates—you need to post regularly. Ha, I guess I’ve failed there.

It’s not as if I haven’t had much to say the last month. I …

Some questions Garber needs to answer

I actually heard Garber say that the International Calendar issue needs to be addressed.  It’s about time.  Too bad he then followed that with a bunch of reasons why they can’t do it.  At least now the no longer have the excuse that MLS teams aren’t the primary tenants in their stadiums.  He’s made a lot happen, I’m disappointed he can’t get this to happen.
Something else he needs to look at is the exodus we are starting to see again of the top players during the off-season.  A few years …

I always love a US/Mexico game. Bottom line, nobody wants to lose this one. It’s too bad there was a lot more passion in the match than actually ability as a team…for both sides. I sat there for most of the match thinking, who is this US side? Mexico is finally learning how to play against us. Landon and Dempsey were both non-factors. I could probably count on my fingers the number of touches they had. Only one player really impressed me, Tim …
