This weekend is extra special as 1) I get to see the Galaxy play in person this week as they’ll be at Invesco–though the way they’ve been playing on the road the last couple of years, I’m not sure it’s a good thing–and 2) The Championship season starts in England and Ipswich will be playing Cardiff.

Portman Road (and the ground staff) has won several awards for the quality of the pitch. Heck, they’d better as Ipswich is in the middle of an agricultural area. So, now that Ipswich are counting the money they made after the REM concert there the other day, it’s time to put down a new pitch.
What strikes me is how much attention is being given to the new pitch and how much of a priority it is. They seem to throw down a new pitch 2 or 3 times each season …

What is it about the news today that the planned MLS All-Star game against Real Madrid so amusing? Certainly, it could have been a great event for ABC to broadcast. However, I do not think Don Garber and co really thought things through very well. When MLS first announced the match up, it was due to take place in June.
