How much is enough?

Kartik had a pretty scary post on his blog last night.  The basic statement in the post was that EPL broadcasts on ESPN the last couple of weeks have basically blown away anything MLS is doing.  Worse, MLS ratings in 1996 were better than they are now…bad news potentially.

What goes up…

Ordinarily I won’t go near the topic of some type of promotion/relegation system in MLS. To be honest, I don’t think it’s needed. What will it really bring?

Is CONCACAF getting tougher?

I’ve been mulling over Saturday nights El Salvador - USA match for a few days now.  I’ve read more than a couple of the knee jerk “the sky is falling” blog posts from US fans about the performance.  However, those comments just haven’t sat will with me.  I don’t think it was all that awful a performance.  No, it wasn’t great but, the sky isn’t falling either.

Not now honey, I’m watching the game

Growing up and going to matches at Portman Road, it was always exciting to see a TV camera sitting in some basket lift above the Churchmans Stand.  That would be the indication that we’d get to see the highlights of the match on Match of the Day that night.  Of course, that was long before SkyTV brought their millions to show live matches.  Now, hardly a match takes place without a camera…and now with the broadcast choices we have, we get to see a lot of matches from the far …

I love the British ‘Chicken Little’ syndrome.  I mean, everything that is a change may as well be the start of Armageddon.  I read the news this morning about the EPL looking to play games overseas with a bit of a smirk on my face.  I already knew what my friends in the UK were thinking.  It wasn’t long before I got emails and messages on Facebook about how awful this is, how it’s the beginning of the end.  How the Yanks are ruining the sport (well, the NFL did …

I don’t think the writers of Dream Team could come up with something this good.
Then again, you’d expect something like that from Bellamy…after all, he spent time in Naarfeck. Serves him right. But c’mon guys, fighting over karaoke? You’re supposed to be drunk and out of tune…if you’re sober, you should be smart enough to leave.
Ah, wouldn’t it be great to be young and have a shitload of cash to blow. Must be nice.

I find so much stuff that it seems I never have time to blog everything. So, here’s some of the things I intended to post this week but never got around to doing so.

This sucks. The Cruz Azul coach was kidnapped and it’s assumed they want a ransom paid. Kidnapping for money is pretty common in Mexico. Hopefully, this one turns out ok.
As much as MLS fans like me complain about how MLS runs things, it’s refreshing to see that fans in England aren’t too happy with their leagues governing …
