US Soccer fans are never happy

2 April 2009 No Comment

Seriously, you’d have thought we had just lost at home to Granada (no offense to the Grenadians) or something, anything, other than stuffing Trinidad and Tobago 3-0. Hey, at least we aren’t .
Honestly, I thought the general mood of US fans would be a lot different after last nights match. I’ll agree, the performance wasn’t that much different than Saturday’s match in San Salvador.  However, the scoreline was slightly improved.  There’s still a fair bit which needs to be done to improve the team if it’s going to perform at all in South Africa.

One positive, Joze Altidore.   The kid knows how to finish.  I was wondering why he’s still spending his time on the bench for a team in the Spanish second level.  Then I remembered Eddie Johnson.  Hope my mind was just going a bit silly there.

As great as Altidore’s goals were, how ’bout Landon?  The guy was on fire and it seems like he has something to prove.  For personal reasons–yes, I’m an LA fan–I hope this carries on all season.

Should I mention Beasley?  Nah, no point.

Honestly, there really wasn’t a lot to the match.  TnT didn’t have much.  I guess the other comment I’d have was about the crowd.  Was that really Nashville?  We are we going to hear the calls for a Nashville FC expansion team?  Okay, maybe not.  Still, it shows just how far things have come the last twenty years.  Yeah, the entire stadium wasn’t sold out but it won’t be that much longer.

Let’s spare a thought for the less fortunate.  During these trouble times jobs are difficult to come by.  Now, with the G20 looking to tighen up tax havens, now is probably a good time for coaches working overseas to head home….especally if that coach is Swedish and has taken temporary residence in ciudad de México.  Yes Sven, the Mexicans have enough problems right now without you giving them more cause for concern.

But then there’s the cheat, turn national hero, turn junkie, turn national team coach who got blasted yesterday.  Ouch.  See, it could be a lot worse.

Well, that round of World Cup Qualifying is done…we will now return to our regularly scheduled programing.

Hey, and an entire post about the TnT team with out a mention of Jack “the crook” Warner…well, almost an entire post.
