Time’s up!

8 January 2009 No Comment

Probably the most important thing about creating and maintaining a blog is to keep it current with fresh information. After all, why go through the hassle of putting something together if you aren’t going to do anything with yet. Yeah, I’ll buy the “cuz the creating is the fun bit” argument but, well, for a blog to be anything, it needs regular updates—you need to post regularly. Ha, I guess I’ve failed there.

It’s not as if I haven’t had much to say the last month. I have. C’mon, the people in DC do nothing but create reasons to further distrust them. Though, I do have to say that beyond everything going on right now (yes, the new president has it’s excitement but I’m certain we’ll see more of the same) this was really interesting to discover. Now, I’m not saying that assistance or a ‘leg up’ is wrong. However, at what price? Other business’ should be given the opportunity.

Sports wise, where to start?

The Championship game is tonight. I’m hoping for a good game. I honestly don’t care who wins. However, you’ll never convince me that the winner is the best team in College Football this year. We’ll never know the answer to that one. There are 2 or 3 other teams who a claim to that title. My vote goes to Utah. Bottom line, no one beat them. Yeah, they are in a mid-major conference but what else can they do? You schedule some good teams (including a team who had knocked off then #1 USC the week before) but you still have what most of the country feels is a weak conference schedule. You can’t change that. The big boys are set as far as their conference alignment goes (though I’m sure someone would make room if Notre Dame wanted to play) so they are stuck with no chance of a national title under the current structure. Let’s just go back to the old, pre-Bowl Alliance method of arguing about the polls.

Hey, is going to Munich for a couple of months. Good for him. Why do I have the feeling he won’t be back? I’ve said all along that he needs to be playing at a higher level if he is ever to become the player he’s capable of being. Bayern should be a good fit for him. On top of that, LA can use the space under the cap to create a better squad to build around Becks for his remaining 3 years.

This is very strange. My office is on the 18th floor of this tower building. Suddenly this debris starts to fall from, I’m guessing the roof. At first I thought it was snow but they were too large to be flakes–and too dark. I then started thinking they could be some sort of ash from afire or something. That would have been strange though it did start to worry me. I then noticed there were some feathers in there falling to the ground. So, it’s still a bit of a mystery but, I’m thinking some bird got caught in a vent or something and…well, who knows and you are probably wishing you hadn’t bothered with this paragraph.

So, the new year has begun. After everything I went through last year, this one can only be better. Let’s hope so.
