Who’s Lost?
I’ve been meaning to start blogging about my Lost Thoughts….well, thoughts I have about that TV show Lost. The season is half over so I guess I’d better start posting before we are down to only 2 seasons.
Jack was the ‘de facto’ leader when they were previously on the island. Sawyer now has true leadership authority-bestowed by someone in Dharma. This should be interesting. Heck, Sawyer seems to consider himself a little Churchill—sans the neck rolls and cigar. Perhaps three years with Juliet, no TV and being gainfully employed has been good for him. Kinda like that movie Trading Places.
Has Sayid figured out he’s not in 2007 any more but gone back thirty years? Has his meeting Ben affected what Ben does to him while he was off the island? Sayid seems to know who Ben is. Will the Ben in thirty years remember Sayid?
There’s “The Purge” which was led by Ben which basically dumped Dharma. Then, there’s “The Indecent” which seems to be something which will happen this season. According to the Swan Orientation film, it has something to do with using computers to communicate with the outside world. Now, the ARPANET was around at the time, but few had any clue about it. So, it is possible that a very basic network was available which is how Walt (if it was him) and Michael were able to IM a couple seasons ago. Also, I had to look it up but the Apple II was released in 1977–yeah, I looked it up. Could it be just a coincidence? I doubt it.
So, we got to meet the infamous Radzinsky last night. When we first saw him, he was building a model of the Swan. He was pretty protective of it…even to the point of risking the truce w/ the hostiles to preserve the secret. At some point Radzinsky ends up in the Swan painting a mural of all the Dharma stations on the blast door. Why do I think that was in relation to The Purge? The yellow suits Kelvin wore when we went out? So, whatever it was that the Swan was keeping bottled up wasn’t bottled up in 1977, was it? Or, was it put in place to keep whatever was escaping from the frozen wheel chamber and causing nosebleeds? Could that have also been the cause of the labor problems which brought Juliet to the island? I’ll need to think about this more, I might be on to something.
Is it just me, or does Radzinsky look a lot like Hurley’s buddy, Lenny, in Santa Rosa? I looked it up and they are played by different actors. Lenny is the one who supposedly would repeat the numbers over and over which lead Hurley to pick the numbers on his lottery ticket which…well, you know the rest of the story. In the Desmond backstory, Kelvin had told him that Radzinsky had put a shotgun to his head. Maybe that story had a different ending.
Sun whacks Ben over the head with an oar and then admits that she lies. Classic stuff. Something tells me that getting the ring back and being told he’s alive hasn’t deminished her dislike for Ben.
So, how are you supposed to react when the baby you are holding, the first baby you were able to successfully deliver on the island (almost 30 years before you first try) will grow up to become your lover? Juliet seemed to take it well…sorta.
Is Faraday hanging out in the well digging the tunnel towards the wheel?
According to Christian, Sun and Frank have a long journey. Why is Frank tagging along? Did he get that invested in the Oceanic 6 while drifting in the raft and enjoying things on Penny’s boat? How is Christian able to dial in the time he wants to appear?
Was the room where the Dharma registration tables etc for the new recruits in the same room as Christian took Sun and Frank?
Why does Dr Chang use so many pseudonyms? (Mark Wickmund, Marvin Candle, Edgar Halliwax) Why do all his names have to do with ‘mood setting light” sources?” Also, who is really in charge? Chang or Goodspeed?
I’m becoming more and more convinced that the real struggle is between Christian and Jacob and no one (perhaps Richard Alpert) knows this is the true battle. Everyone else is just blindly doing what they thing is right based on whatever they are being told at that moment. Remember, the only time we heard Jacob was him asking Locke to help him. Could Christian’s return to the island have been him taking over from Jacob and asking for Locke’s help was one of his last chances? Then again, if my theory is heading in the right direction, why did Christian help John (sorta) off the island? I’ll need to think this one through some more. After all, Christian did tell Locke he’d have to die. But isn’t that how Christian returned to the island? Perhaps it’s part of the “rules”—remember the discussion Widmore and Ben had after Alex was killed? I dunno. There’s something here though.
So, the runway on the “Hydra” island was built so that Frank could land the plane on it…not long enough as the co-pilot discovered. However, something is missing. They, the group formerly known as The Others, went to said island after Michael had conned Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley into meeting at the Pala Ferry dock. Michael and Walt took off in that boat and everyone else, except Hurley, headed to the other island. Now, if Kate and Sawyer were conscripted to build the runway—Jack was needed to fix Ben’s back—who were all the other “Others” building the runway? Why did people like Juliet, Tom and that other guy (who’s wife was killed by Sun before he was killed by….errr, Hurley?) get to stand around and bark orders while others were building it? I guess this also means that someone is going to have to go back in time to tell them to build said runway.
This, “what happens, happens,” mantra we hear from Faraday. I’m not sure I buy it. He’s already brought Desmond in by having him go find his mom. Or was that part of the plan? Remember, Faraday’s mother (Mrs. Hawking) told Desmond that you can delay things but in the end, you can’t stop something. Is this Fate vs Destiny from a different angle?
Ok, that’s enough for now. I can’t wait for next Wednesday evening.
