Whatever Happened, Happened

27 March 2009 No Comment

Well, I think that’s the quote from Faraday when explaining you can’t change what happened.  Of course, it’s also the title of next week episode of Lost…should be interesting.

So, the real question everyone seems to be asking is, can you change future events when you go back to the past?  Seems to me that question will be answered…but probably not until the end of the season.

Here’s my thinking.  He’s not dead.  Nope, can’t be.  Remember the whole Desmond/Mrs. Hawking thing.  Desmond wanted to save Charlie but Mrs. Hawking explains the theory of course correction by watching some poor guy in red sneakers get crushed by construction scaffold.

Is it just me or does young Ben look a lot like Harry Potter?

Besides, it’s not like we haven’t seen things like Mikhail–you know, the guy with the patch–come back to life several times.  Ironic though, both Mikhail and Sayid were communications officers in militaries fighting ‘The West’.  I just realized that.

Nope, without a doubt, Ben will somehow survive and now Sayid has given Ben all the info he needs to be able to recruit him in 30 years to do all the killing.  After all, Ben always has a plan.  I’ve a feeling we are going to find out that Ben needed to get Sayid into a killing frenzy to insure he shoots young Ben.  Something is going to happen which leads Ben to becoming the island leader…or whatever title The Others bestow on him.

This also puts the whole “Sayid torture of Henry Gale” episode in the Swan into a new light.  Also, who really were those people on Ben’s hit-list that Sayid killed?  Were they really working for Widmore?  Or, was this part of Ben’s plan to torture Sayid for what he did…or will do…or…you know what I mean.

Another interesting item, Ben had met and was familiar with the main people who crashed on Flight 815.  He had those files on everyone, but it turns out he also had background info which wouldn’t have been in the files…like meeting them and living with them.

So, what’s with Sayid’s ablitiy to find attractive women?  Ok, I never thought Shannon was that attractive but there was the one in Berlin (or was it Munich?) and now this bounty hunter.  In Germany it was a little different in that he was doing the persuing too.  However, this time he totally fell for it.

One last Sayid note.  How badly did the truth serym plan work?  It was funny watching squirm (con gone on too long?) while the Dharma dudes got pissed at the hearing some strange story about crashing on the island, getting off and then crashing again 30 years earlier.  C’mon, it could happen.

Is it me or is the whole Juliet/Saywer/Jack/Kate thing just getting entirely too silly?

Ya know, it’s funny but I really don’t remember a ton more about this week’s episode.  Sayid drinks expensive whisky, Sayid thought he was gettin’ some, Sayid in cuffs on the plane not going to Guam, Sayid meets Ben (and Ben’s dad), Sayid gets truth serym, Sayid tells truth thta sounds like fiction, Dharma Van on fire, Sayid shoots Ben with Jin’s gun.  (Can you tell I read a lot of kids books to my 3 year old?)

Better go watch it again in case I missed something.
