Lost Variables

While watching the episode this week, it dawned on me that we were getting more answers to our questions than finding ourselves asking questions. I guess this is what happens as the show starts to wind down. Doesn’t mean I hafta like it. Still, there are a lot of questions remaining to be answered.

Well, we now know a bit more about Faraday…and probably won’t get to see much more. What a way to go, to be shot by your mother before you were born. Or had Charles and Ellie already hooked up?

Ok, so Faraday somehow ends up in the HR Dept on the island and manages to get a gig at HQ in Ann Arbor? Something isn’t right there. Then, while he’s been his entire life that you can’t change what happened he decides that maybe you can and then he can’t….and what a way to find out. Everything that happened, happened. Even down to freaking out young Charlotte. Is the show really about how we can’t control what happens?

Just to make sure I have this straight, The Others (or Hostiles or whatever they are, you know the ones living in tents) are at war with the folk. has an electronic fence around their barracks. However, you can just walk into the Hostiles camp before anyone notices you? No wonder are able to build all these stations all over the island.

Also, this is a different Faraday in many ways. Heck, he even had the balls to tell Dr. Chang that Miles was his son. He was so much more confident with himself after his time in Michigan….look where it got him.
After watching last night though I started to wonder what would have happened if young Danny was allowed to follow his dream of playing the piano. It wasn’t fate but his mother than pushed him to being the strange math dude. All this talk about fate but there’s always been something pushing the characters to their fate.

Does anyone else think it’s a good thing that Faraday never knew he was Hawking and Widmore’s love child?

Can I pat myself on the pack for predicting a couple of weeks ago that the Ellie we saw back with the Jughead was the same Ellie mentioned when Kate and took young Ben to , and grew up to be Mrs. Hawking. No, well, I guess it was a bit obvious…but I still got it right. :)

I’m thinking that now that the 815 gang with Miles and Juliet will now try and save the island from “”—whatever it ends up being, though we have a good idea now–and it’ll probably create a whole new mess for next season. Jack started to turn back into his old self after Faraday explained his theory about how to change what happened resulting in the plane never crashing. I kinda have a feeling that’s the story for next season; fixing things so the plane never does crash. After all, Jack always did like to fix things…but wasn’t his life less than perfect when the plane crashed—broken marriage and all.

Then again, what about Locke and Rose? They seem happy on the island. It healed them—or so it seems. Heck, where are Rose and Bernard? Have we seen them this season? Or the kids from the tail section? Or…well, I guess walking around without a shirt gets better ratings. Oh, and if the plane never crashed, would Sun have been able to get pregnant?

So, there’s no going back to the camp now for the 815 gang. What is with Radzinski? That guy just sticks his nose in everywhere. It’s going to be interesting to see how he ends up in The Swan now? Something tells me that he makes a big deal about the right person being in there and that’s how he got the gig…before .

Where’s Horace during all this? No wonder everything is a mess. I thought he was the boss or something but he’s clueless as to what’s going on.

What the heck is with . He calls the shots sometimes (like when he took Ben in) and other times he’s bossed around (Ben, Widmore, Ellie…). Is he just supposed to be the leaders guide or something?
Why haven’t the others found Sayid yet? Betcha Jack and Kate stumble upon him next week.

What’s Hawking and Widmore doing at the hospital where Desmond is recovering? Widmore must have gone straight to his private jet after talking to Ben in order to get to LA that quick—the flight alone is at least 12 hours, I’ve done it a few times–but he doesn’t want to see Penny or his grandson? Something is not right. I’m guessing it’s all some sort of a ploy to get the four of them back on the island. Who else am I missing? Walt? Wooh, Walt, Aaron and Ji Yeon?

Come to think of it, if Widmore had Danny with Ellie, who did he have Penny with and, is that why the two of them are so bitter? Widmore isn’t booted for a few more years. Ellie left the island well before it seems. I’m guessing an episode next season will answer those stories. I still wanna know how Widmore was able to come and go like he did…or did he take the sub?

Could “” also be the reason Miles and Charlotte leave the island? It’s been suggested. Could it also be the reason kids can’t be born there and mothers die while giving birth?

So, my big theory this week is that “” will somehow skip all those who shouldn’t be in the 70’s forward 30 years in time. Then, they’ll have to battle whoever the heck those people from the new flight for something. Some nagging theory seems to lead me to thing that “Lost” is about something more than just being on the island. Perhaps they are all getting back something they’d lost. Well, everyone there seems to have some kind of parental problem so…. Heck, why didn’t the 815 gang just take the sub and split or doesn’t leaving the island count unless they are back in 2007 or 2009 or whatever? Besides Juliet, they all seem to have better lives on the island.

Ok, that’s all I got, until next week, Namaste.
