Lost is Lost or something like that…
Most of the time, I have a clear direction of where my thoughts are after watching each episode of Lost. Not this week.
There is just so much that went on that it’s hard to really put it all together. I’ve no idea where to really start.
Well, I had a couple of predictions in my post last week which were answered this week. I hit .500 on correctness.
Yep, I was right. Desmond is the one who beat the snot out of Ben on his way to the flight to Guam. However, I don’t think that’s the whole story to the trying to kill Penny tangent. They left him floating in the water. Chances are, he gets out of the water and tries something else…well, that’s my bet.
My theory about Jacob not being born yet in 1977 was wrong though. Ben won’t be his half-brother.
It seems that Ben and Charles Widmore are long-time adversaries. Widmore spent a long time–30+ years–there and was the leader, and replaced by Ben. Trips off the island and fathering a child with a ‘non-Other’ off the island were the reasons Wedmore was sent packing.
Ok, so Penny it seems wasn’t born on the island then. As leader of the Others Widmore was able to just come and go? How? Then again, Ben did have a large number of suits, passports and currency stashed in his bunker which lead to place where he summoned the smoke monster. Did Ben also get to make trips off the island? We know that Richard Alpert made a few trips. Ethan made at least one–recruiting Juliet. Perhaps the, now destroyed, sub and the frozen wheel of the Orchid station aren’t the only paths off the island.
WHat was really interesting this week, well for me, was the dynamic between Ben and Locke. In the past, Ben has been very sure of himself, almost cocky. Locke has been unsure and making more than his share of decisions which didn’t work out for those around him.
Exibits A, B, C…etc.
Anyway, those roles seemed to reverse as Locke made sure Ben went to see the smoke monster and was pretty cocky in doing so. It sure seems Ben isn’t the confident leader he was.
Intersting how Locke referred to Ben’s leadership style as “corporate” when discussing his office.
What was the deal with Ben’s lack of…..whatever it was when he blew Ceaser away? Why do I have the feeling that those people know what they are looking for and weren’t on the flight to Guam by accident? They established a chain of command way to quick. Oh, and one was bringing Sayid in cuffs but didn’t seem to bothered or surprised when he disappeared.
There was more…lots more but I’ll have to save it as it’s already Saturday.
One theory I’m playing with though. Jacob was old testiment. Christian is the new (well, sorta) Christian is now “speaking for” (I think those were his words) Jacob. Anyway, playing with the theory.
Until I get around to posting more….
